Challenge Description

This will be a tough one! I would like to see a team-style mascot logo design based on a Gorilla head (Do it for Harambe!).

This challenge will really test your ability to effectively capture the shape and aesthetic of a Gorilla, but also do so in a minimalistic and iconic manner.

Requirements

  • WHITE BACKGROUND ONLY - This is to keep uniformity in the entries.
  • It should be vector.  Or if you only have Photoshop, no pixelation!
  • It needs to be large enough so that we can all easily see it.
  • No type, no text, just the head symbol.
  • Don't copy other entries.
  • You're free to use color, but black and white is fine. If you use color, limit it to 2 primary colors.
  • Don't over-use cheesy effects like soft drop shadows, gradients, inner glows, outter glows, etc.. Ideally, you would use none of that and keep things FLAT!

Good entry, but I think you could bring out the shape quite a bit more with a highlight color to accent a lot of the dark gray you have going on. Thanks.

Has potential, but it feels a bit unfinished with all of the detail on the forward part of the face, and the lack of detail in the back of the head. Thanks for the entry.

Has a lot going for it, but I'm not too sure it's setting the right mood for a team mascot with the smirk and the shades. Thanks for the entry!

Rules said white background, how dare you! Nah, no big deal. Solid attempt. Thanks!

Hey there! Used some more colors instead of 2 but I hope you still like my Harambe :)
Looking forward to your feedback!

This is pretty difficult to see that it's a gorilla, unfortunately! Thanks for your entry.

Some "Line Art". It's different from my rescent artwork.

Thanks for putting the effort into this -- although, there's too much happening here for it to be a really effective mascot logo. In the requirements, it stated only the head of the gorilla, not a near-full body shot! ;) Thanks for your entry again though.

Started useing illustrator three weeks ago, so this my first attempt on a team mascot. I went with a bit of color for the sake of having a team color.

This has a lot going right for it (simplicity, versatility, etc..) but it just seems too bland and boring for a team mascot logo. Thanks!

This has potential, but I had a hard time initially understanding what was happening. I think if you colored in the eye area all black, and showed a pupil of some sort, it would be much more obvious (the orientation of the head, the fact that it's a gorilla, etc.) Good stuff though, thanks.

This has potential, but looks unfinished. I see you added a few highlights, but the back portion of the head is all flat. I would even it more out by adding more. Thanks!

Hello!
Thank you for the challenge! This one is for Harambe.

The biggest issue here is lack of contrast between the various elements. Work on that contrast! Thanks!

Has a lot of potential, however it seems a bit "unfinished" in areas, such as the eyes. The teeth are white, the tongue is red. It seems like the eyes / pupils should be shown as well, and possibly the ear in that blank black spot. Good attempt though, close!
